Chapter 8 - New Stuff

School Project: Construct-A-Bridge From The Parenthood Pack (May Be Purchased In Buy Mode)

Kali's school project was coming along quite nicely, in fact, after working on it for a couple hours, things were finally starting to come together and resemble a bridge!  Neither Zoey, Genesis nor Ayaka called about the Humor And Hijinks Festival, but it was probably for the better because by 8:30 pm a crazy thunderstorm rolled in, they might have even canceled the festival on account of the weather anyway.

It was getting too cold to be sitting out on the back porch working on her project, so she dragged everything closer to the house, so it wouldn't be damaged by the storm, and headed indoors.  She hadn't attempted to make a fire in the hearth yet, but it seemed like a perfect time to try, besides, if the power went out, she would still be able to see using the firelight!  She had no trouble getting the wood to catch, and within just a few minutes could feel the nice warm heat emanating from the fireplace.  Kali curled up on the sofa so she could enjoy the warmth while she worked on her science homework that was due tomorrow.

Kali had the hardest time getting any sleep, the storm outside was relentless!!  She was up and getting ready for school despite only having gotten a few precious hours of sleep, being responsible was rough stuff!  While she was waiting for the bus, she browsed through stuff on Sim-Mart and decided to place an order.  They promised free delivery and since everything she wanted was available today, by the time she would be getting home from school, everything should be there!

Kali met up with Zoey after school in the parking lot, as they had agreed upon during lunch.  Since Zoey didn't have any plans for her evening, she had offered to help Kali unpack and set up all the stuff that she had ordered from Sim-Mart.  Kali was thrilled that Zoey was coming over, and she couldn't wait to get home and see all her purchases!  As expected, all of the goodies that Kali ordered had been delivered and were sitting there on the front porch when her and Zoey arrived!  There was a small television, a snazzy new radio, a computer, an umbrella rack with a couple umbrellas, a vase of realistic looking plastic flowers, a beautiful area rug for the living room and a few boxes of assorted holiday decorations and other various craft supplies.

"I can't believe that you live here in this cottage all alone!  What I wouldn't do to move away and have some peace and quiet for once!" Zoey complained.

Zoey was the oldest in her family, with a set of younger twin sisters.  As lonely as Kali got here, she wasn't so sure she would like having to share everything with a couple of siblings.

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, you're welcome to escape and come here anytime!  It does tend to get quite lonely when the only one I have to converse with is Howard," said Kali. 

"Who's Howard?" Inquired Zoey.

"My fish!" Kali smirked.

Not able to help it, they both were thrown into fits of giggles.  The two girls had fun laughing together as they set up all the electronics, decided where to place the vase of flowers and which direction to set the rug.  Stepping back and looking at all they had accomplished, Kali had the thought for the first time, that this really was HER home now.
