Chapter 10 - Time With Zoey

On Wednesday evening, Kali got a phone call from Zoey.

"Hey girl!  So, there's this new Japanese restaurant that I've been dying to try out!  I'm like SO OVER being home right now and I'm hungry!  What'd ya say...wanna' come check it out with me?"

Kali didn't have to think long.  "Of course!  I'm starved!"

"Okay cool!  I'll meet you there!" Zoey said excitedly.

"See ya soon!" Said Kali.

The pair met in front of the restaurant, thankfully it wasn't too busy just yet, so they were able to grab a table without much of a wait.  As soon as the hostess walked away, Zoey started up the conversation.  "It's been absolutely crazy around my house, I'm so glad you came out with me tonight!  I HAD to get out!"

"The twins driving your bonkers again?" Kali asked.

"I wish it was the twins!" Zoey said with a sigh.  "It's worse!  After my birthday dinner the other night, my parents have been nagging me about when I'm going to start acting like a young adult and when I'm going to get a job."  I mean geez...I JUST had my birthday!"

"Speaking of birthdays, I brought you this!" Zoey said handing a small wrapped package to Zoey. "Open it!"

"Aww thanks Kali, you didn't have to get me anything!"

"Like I wouldn't!" Laughed Kali. "You're my closest friend!"

Zoey read the cover, "Lucas Dark And The Increasingly Unlikely Series Of Coincidences, I haven't read this one yet!  Thanks Kali!"

"You Bet!  I'm not quite finished reading it myself, and it's been really interesting, so I ordered you a copy!  I don't have a lot of time to just sit and read, especially because of school.  Speaking of school...you know, it's definitely not the same with you gone..." Kali frowned.

"Awww,  I DO miss seeing you every day....school, well...that I DON'T miss!" said Zoey.

The Give Friendly Gift Interaction

They both decided on getting an order of the Asian Fish Tacos and a tall glass of lemon water, so they placed their order as soon as the waitress came by.  All through their meal they enjoyed easily chatting with each other with hardly a pause in conversation.  When Kali looked at the clock, she was surprised to see that it was after 1:00 am...where had the time gone?!  They paid for their meals, and headed out of the restaurant.  

"Zoey, I had so much fun tonight, it really was great hanging out with you!" Said Kali.

"Anytime Kali, and thanks for trying out this restaurant with me!  We'll definitely have to hang out again!  Maybe I'll treat you to dinner next time...if I have a job!  Laughed Zoey as she pulled Kali in for a friendly hug.  "See ya later!"

Kali flagged down the nearest taxi, gave them her address and headed back home to Windenburg.

Kali had been sleeping only three hours when she woke up feeling really really sick!  A couple trips to the bathroom proved that she had food poisoning!  Before things got really any worse, she phoned the restaurant to report what had happened.  Feeling sincerely bad for Kali's situation, the restaurant refunded the cost of her meal and paid her and additional $257 Simoleons for any pain or suffering she was dealing with!  Talk about customer service!  It was too early to call Zoey, but she wondered if she was feeling sick as well, since they had ordered the exact same thing tonight.  Taking some antacids, Kali climbed back into bed and quickly fell asleep again.

When Kali woke in the morning, she expected to feel groggy and queasy, but surprisingly, she felt better than ever, without even a hint of the upset stomach she had had the night before!  Then she remembered that today was Harvestfest which meant it also marked the first full week that Kali had been on her own!  It was a bonus that today was a day off from school....but now she had to decide HOW she was going to pass the time.
