Chapter 3 - Good Food And A Food Flop

Kali was awakened from a deep sleep at 9:45 am by a quick, loud knock at the front door.  Who could that be?!  Expecting to see someone when she opened the door, she was even more surprised to see that a large stack of boxes with SIMply Fresh stamped on their sides, had just been delivered!
There Is No Food Delivery In The Sims4 - This Was Staged
Apparently Nana was signed up to receive a weekly food box of meals and according to the invoiced attached to the box on the top of the stack, had prepaid boxes for an entire year!
"Thank-you Nana!" Kali said, with her eyes looking upward.
She felt that somehow Nana had known her time was up and tried helping out in any way that she could.  Having this food delivery service was a huge weight off of Kali's shoulders, knowing that she wouldn't have to worry about going out to buy groceries for quite some time.  Each meal inside had detailed instructions and everything was pre-portioned out, so Kali wouldn't even have to worry about HOW to prepare the meals!  Things couldn't get much easier than that!

Kali hefted the food boxes inside, unpacked all the goodies and got everything tucked away in their proper places.  She decided to mix up one of the small garden salads for breakfast that had been in one of the boxes.  No, it wasn't a traditional breakfast by any means, but aside from the cheese crackers her first night, a mediocre school lunch and a couple helpings of chips at the bowling alley the day before, Kali thought the greens would be a smart choice.  Besides, even though there were instructions on how to cook all the meals, she wasn't overly keen on using the stove or oven just yet.

While Kali was sitting there eating her breakfast, she used her phone to check her her e-mail inbox.  There were a bunch of messages that were quickly transferred to her junk box, a letter from one of her former classmates wishing her well and a bulletin posting for volunteer opportunities this weekend here in Windenburg.  Thinking it would be a fun way to spend part of her Saturday, she dialed the Volunteer Hotline.  Since they still had openings for manning a table at the charity bake sale this afternoon in the park, Kali signed up for the event and got ready to head out.

When Kali got to the charity event, the Bake Sale Coordinator was missing!  The whole area was a disorganized mess!  The goods were not set out on the tables, there was a sizable crowd of people gathering, and none of the volunteers had been given any directions, so Kali took off to search for the missing coordinator.  The park was so large, and there were so many people that before she knew it, Kali found herself lost amidst all the hubbub!  She was literally gone for hours before she finally found her way back to the bake sale area!  From the disappointed looks on their faces, the other volunteers must have thought that Kali was just trying to shirk her responsibilities.  Not bothering to explain what had happened, with an apologetic look to the others, Kali jumped behind an unmanned table and started helping customers.

Despite getting lost trying to locate the Bake Sale coordinator, volunteering today, overall, had been a wonderful experience.  The whole charity event turned out to be a massive success for the community!  They completely sold out of all the donated baked goods and there was a sizable stack of Simoleons made, they even gave each volunteer a large chocolate chip cookie for donating their time!  Kali had been happy to help out, and volunteering had left  her feeling all warm inside!  She promised to check back on the Volunteer Here website the next time she had some free time to spare, said goodbye to the Bake Sale Coordinator, waved to the other volunteers, and then headed back home.
